Since the tone of my last message could be misconstrued, I should point out that I don't wish to disrespect Douglas's copyright on his work. In fact, I realised that the copyright notice on his site expressly requests that one not redistribute the samples without his permission. I've e-mailed him again though with a few further ideas, so we'll see what he says. (As I pointed out, anybody can go and build their own Doggiebox ns_kit using the samples downloaded from his site anyway.)
Ah, well, I wouldn't want to violate his copyright, to be sure! I fully understand and agree with the GPLish nature of his distribution terms, his desire to see what he provides for free to keep being provided for free. (And I see, now looking closely, that he doesn't want things distributed from other web sites with permission). Clearly, in any case, I could not go around selling copies of my music made with ns_kit (though the small amount of music I've ever recorded as all be freely available anyway, and since I don't expert to ever make any money as a musician, I don't expect to do differently in the future!). And I can see there would be a clear argument against "bundling" his samples with Doggiebox (since Doggiebox shareware rather than freeware), though I am a little confused as to why a Doggiebox drumkit format version of the samples would be problem for him. After all, the ns_kit site _itself_ includes ready-made versions of the ns_kit samples for use with GigaStudio, which was not free the last time I looked (about 30 seconds ago :) A Doggiebox drumkit version would surely be little different?
