Houston, we have a problem...... I've just played around with the MIDI export, and it's dead..... New MIDI files created in DB won't play in QuickTime and won't import into ProTools or Garage Band. Older ones I've created with DB import just fine (and play via QT), so it is a DB problem. We need Ben's Magic..... On 21/07/2008, at 8:22 PM, Charlie wrote:
Hmmm....
I've just tried again to get a MIDI file exported, and it has come a cropper....
I have an old file I exported as MIDI and then imported into ProTools a few months ago ( I assume using an older DB version or QuickTime), Now I've just tried to replicate this, and the MIDI file exports, but won't open in QT - i get an error "The Movie could not be opened The file is not a movie file"
I'll try to import it into PT in the next day or two and see if is recognised.
I'm still on a PPC with 10.4.11

When I export midi from doggiebox, then import that midi to Logic Pro 8, the midi-file does not follow my project tempo. Nor is it possible to adjust the tempo of the midi region with the tempo-line. The tempo is not even the same in the exported midi file and an exported audio file. What gives?
Hmm, I'm not sure how thoroughly the MIDI export was ever tested, so perhaps there is some old, underlying issue that is only now coming to the surface ....
Alternatively -- what version of OS X are you using? I remember there were a lot of issues with getting DB to play nicely on both Tiger and Leopard, and maybe something in Leopard has made MIDI- export a casualty without anyone noticing until now?
Has anyone else used the MIDI export much? I used the MMC feature a lot until I had to sell my VS-1680 last year before moving, and that always worked pretty well -- but I never really used MIDI export seriously.
Of course, we probably need Ben to re-emerge from his enchanted sleep to answer these questions! :)
Cheers, Carl
