Guys, First, my reference to Doug was a confusion in my own mind. I was using a music scoring tool (MuseEdit) that was developed by Doug Rogers, that like DB fell by the wayside. So apologies for the confusion. Second, I still LOVE the DB grid UI. Funny how no one out there has replicated it. That's why I share your concerns and would like to see DB survive. This was some great work, but it is nearing 2 years since it was updated. Third: I bit the bullet and bought Strike from DigiDesign. As an electronic drummer, it sounds incredible. However, the pattern editor is not very good. It could sure use a DB makeover. Also, it only works with Pro Tools. I have that and just bought Logic Studio (mainly for all the bundled instruments - PT is still my preferred music sequencer). The bad news is right now PT doesn't work on leopard. Digidesign is going to release an update, but that could be a month from now (for all I know). Logic wouldn't start on leopard until I renamed the Rewire folders in the application support folders. Fourth: I have also bought several drum loop packages from Betamonkeymusic.com . These are high quality, and if you watch the specials, you can get them at a very good price. He also has samples that you can map to DB. Hopefully, we will hear something about DB soon. regards dave
Basically, I am ready to upgrade to Leopard, but I won't until I have a decent software drum solution.
I don't suppose any new products have appeared on the market that work as well as DoggieBox? (Or even almost as good as DoggieBox?) I am still surprised there aren't similarly designed products out there. It really is a great product.
