I've only ever used AIFF. It doesn't really matter except of course for the software with which you plan to use the exported track.
However, after importing into Pro Tools there has been (only recently) some clipping on the DB import-track when I play it back in Pro Tools.
Turn down the level (master volume) before exporting; it's probably topping out. That's a problem independent of bit depth or file format.
