Hi Mike Yeah - I've had a look at Guitar Tab, which is great for composing or transcribing ascii to chords etc. What I would like to do though is to take a piece of ascii data and transcribe it to a doggiebox db so that I can play guitar along to it or muck about with the patterns. Its just that there are thousands of songs drum tabs already transcribed in ascii and thats likely to continue no matter how popular db gets. In short: I think of a song which I'd like to learn; I find the drum tab on the net; I copy/paste it into doggiebox and play. Then I can play guitar along to an accurate drum track for the song. (having also got the guitar tab from he net). I can do this at the moment, but it means manually transcribing the drum which is a pain, although much less so with the new sections. .. I see what you're saying about the internal midi, which is a good idea `I must say, but Its a second best option compared with the realistic sound you get from DB plus it would be better if you wanted to record your efforts at the end of the day. Also, Ive just thought, If this were possible, many many songs woulb be transcribed ad shared by all of us users increasing the doggiebox library of db tab resources. Cheers Sion
There's a Mac application called Guitar Tab that has the ability to read and write ASCII files as tab. In other words, when you use the program to compose or transcribe your tab, you can export it as ASCII. Likewise, you can import ASCII files and play them with your system's built in MIDI instruments.
Is this the kind of thing you guys are talking about? How is sharing tablature easier than sharing song files? I must be missing something.
