Commercially sampled drum sounds put into a doggiebox kit I suspect would be bad news. However, if someone just miked one of their drums, recorded it (and other bits) and put those into a doggiebox kit it is no problem. This is probably redundant because I'm that's exactly what Ben did for the sample kit we all get.
Actually no, the Ben's Premier Kit my actual acoustic drum kit, mic'd last year with a stereo overhead and an SM58-copy on the kick, if I recall correctly. It consists of a Premier-brand 5-piece wood kit with usual Remo heads, etc: 14" steel-body snare 12", 13" (rack) and 16" (floor) toms 22" wood bass drum 14" mix'n'match hi hats 14" Zildjian dark thin crash 16" Sabian B8 crash 18" Sabian B8 ride/crash plus a couple of other toys like cowbell, tambourine etc which I haven't recorded recently. ...alright, I've dug through some files and found a bunch of jpeg's from about a year ago, during a time when I had a borrowed a friend's digital camera and was playing around with it. For sheer amusement, I'll share some of em :) Different angles of the kit: http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00142.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00143.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00167.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00168.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00193.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00194.JPG The Tascam mixing console I mentioned in an earlier message: http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00139.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00140.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00141.JPG My Tascam 414 four-track from a funky angle: http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00188.JPG My guitars leaning up against my trombone case: http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00144.JPG Here's our favourite mascot in the "flesh": http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00173.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00174.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00180.JPG http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00181.JPG and the shot which was the basis for the current stylized logo: http://www.zygoat.ca/~ben/DSC00178.JPG :D -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
