70s ludwig kit and key assignment.

Hello, this is my first entry to the list, hope I'm doing it correctly. I have a couple of questions. First one, why can't I assign key shortcuts to the Ludwig kit? I was trying to do that right now, and all went well until i tried to save it. A message box pops down that says "Couldn't save document." So I can't assign keys in that kit? haven't tried doing it with any other kit yet. Second, Is it possible to get hold of the icons of the ns_kit? If i am to make my own version, it would be a lot easier if I had the icons. Thanks! Håkon Pettersen, Norway

Hi. I was able to assign keyboard shortcuts to the Ludwig kit. Maybe there's a permissions thing going on? Is the file somewhere on your machine that you have permission to save to? Regarding icons, I'm new to creating kits but I did discover that you can copy and paste icons from one drum to another. I did this when I added a couple cymbals to the Ludwig Kit from the GB Rock kit. So maybe you can have another kit open and grab the icons accordingly. Kind of a pain, but probably better than creating icons from scratch. Hope this helps, Chris on 2/4/05 10:51 AM, Håkon Pettersen at haakon.pettersen@tiscali.no wrote:

I copied it to my desktop where I'm certain that i have permission, but still the same message appeared. I also tried to save as... and that worked perfectly fine, so I'll just do that.

Ok, that's one way, but i think the ns/dbkit icons are very nice because of the numbers that indicate intensity or what to call it. It makes it so much easier to work with. Another little question, when i pressed the reply button in mail, it addressed the mail to the sender, is there an easy way to make it reply to the list, or is it not necessary? Haakon

I've been mucking about for some time with ns_kit versions using icons based on those Mike Carlyle did. I have a pile saved as TIFFs on my hard drive and Photoshop "templates". I wouldn't call my dbkit experimentation or icon making done, but I could sling the icons I have up online somewhere. But, yeah, as someone said, you ought to be able to drag icons from dbkit to dbkit, too. Cheers, Carl -- Carl Edlund Anderson http://www.carlaz.com/

That is a symptom of saving a drum kit which was originally created in an earlier (pre-1.2) version of Doggiebox. Once you "save as" the first time, normal "saves" should work from that point onward. -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
