Has anyone thought of making a few basic rock beats available to d/l? It would be a huge help to those of us having trouble getting the step-writing thing going. I've been going to a few free drum lesson sites and putting in some of the charts to get a grasp of this but most of that stuff is rudiments and aren't really all that useful for jamming with. To see a few useable (even typical) beats and be able to de-construct them would do wonders. Though I understand that most people using this software already know what their doing, nor do i expect them to hold my hand. Still trying, Dan Walsh

If anybody has any such things you'd like to share, send them in and I'll post them in the file library. I'm working on a couple of Queens of the Stone Age covers right now; as soon as they're done I'll post mp3's and the Doggiebox files for anyone to peruse. :) -ben On 15 9 2003 at 12:32 pm -0400, dpwalsh6@cox.net wrote:

Groovy. I've been (slowly, very slowly) working out a drum part for an original rock piece. It starts with a sort of Supernautish hi-hat pattern, and carries on in my best-if-inexpert attempt to do some good ol' four-on-the-floor rock percussion. I've been meaning to post it up on my own web site, and it could certainly be carved up and the bits used as basic rock patterns of various sorts. There already are a couple of these available at the library: <http://www.doggiebox.com/library/> When I get the chance, I'll upload a few things I have that could be easily shared, too. I can think of three things from my files already--some Buzzcocks-style syncopated power-pop drumming (166 bpm!), a basic 6/8 drum pattern (about 120 bpm), and a slow 4/4 pattern (88 bpm, I think). I'll do this next time I boot into OSX. Carl -- ********** Carl Freire Oakland, California cfreire@ix.netcom.com cfreire@uclink4.berkeley.edu

Here's a few tracks to screw around with. They are real basic rock beats (AC/DC to Ramones type tunes work well with these beats). I have tons of original songs I've made as well. Let me know if you need them to break apart as well.

Thanks Robert, I've posted those to the library as well. I've also adjusted the list settings to disallow posting attachments, as it is usually a nuisance for many people. :) No worries though. -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca
