automatic repetition of edits, why?
New (paid-up) user here, having fun. The icons are charming. Something odd: I put in a few bars, then copied & pasted them to have some patterns to play with. Then when I enter a note, it's automagically pasted not only into the bar I'm editing, but the matching bar of the next (repeated) sequence. It's like whatever I do happens in two places at once. Not sure how to de-link them, the original sequence and its copy. I haven't found a reference to this in the Help or the archives. Is it a bug or a feature? Also, is it possible to copy just one voice? I am enjoying the sound files you all have posted. There's talent here!
It's a feature. Remember that the sections are really "building blocks". Once you finalize them, you can insert them into your songs Playlist wherever you wish. My best approach has been to create sections in the order of the song, and name them such as Verse 1, Chorus 1, Verse 2, Bridge, and so on, There's no harm in using these repeatedly (Verse 1 might be the exact same pattern as Verse 4, for example). If you do repeat sections within your song, it's a great benefit to be able to make changes in one place and see (or hear) them appear (what's the audio analogy for "appear") within your Playlist without having to go find them. You can create Verse 1's section, copy and paste it to create Verse 2's, then season each. Changes made to the Sections will appear wherever those bits appear in the Playlist. I also type the first word of lyric into the Description field in the Playlist. This shows up in the song window above and always helps me figure out where I am. Eve Edelson wrote:

As I try out new sounds while looping what's already laid down, there's a delay between hitting the key and hearing the sound. What do you all do about it? Do you use a different input device?

Doggiebox is not, I think, really intended to be a "sampler" in the sense that you can play it in real time. You have to pretty much edit your loop and play it again to hear it properly. You can add or erase things to a section while it's looping, but you have to wait for it to loop back around again to play with your new addition or subtraction or you'll not hear it properly ....
