Hi folks, Grab the latest beta at <http://www.doggiebox.com/beta/Doggiebox-1B3.zip> What's new in 1B3 compared with last week's build: New drag and drop functionality: • Can re-arrange the order of sections by dragging them, in both the Section list and Layout list. • Can create new layout markers by dragging sections from the Section list into the Layout list. • Can change an existing marker's section by dragging a section from Section list onto one in the Layout list. Preferences dialog revamped: • Added a new preference for "begin new line at each section", which will create line breaks in the pattern editor for better visual navigation. • Default drum kit picker removed; instead, Doggiebox now automatically defaults to the most recently chosen kit. Miscellaneous changes: • Added support for cut, copy and paste of sections (within and between songs) to the Section list. • Cosmetic improvements to pattern editor. • Revised the scheme for trial mode (limitation is now 30 seconds total duration, instead of 64 bars). • Other minor bugs fixed. Note: Charlie Needle reported that double-clicking the tempo slider, while correctly resetting the tempo to 100%, does not cause the actual slider to move to that position. I can reproduce this under 10.2, but not 10.3. This appears to be an old AppKit issue that I spent some time playing with, but can't find an obvious work-around. Minor though, so it will probably stay. Enjoy! Ben, thanks for the really nice improvements to the layout. They are making song writing a lot easier. However, I am having a couple of problems: 1) I cannot add any bars to a new section. I can add to existing sections though. 2) The tempo refuses to change. I now have a whole bunch or 100 or 120 bars mixed throughout. If I select all sections via the Sections list I can't change the tempo at all. However I can select all the sections in the Layout list and change the tempo for all, but it doesn't stick. OS X.3.2 and this latest doggiebox. Cheers, Christoph

Ben- I've got the same issue with adding bars to a section. If you click on the section list with a new section, can't add. If you make a layout with the section, you can add new bars. Overall, I like the direction the interface is going. Drag and drop is way cool. Option-Click copies on the drag too. Very nice. -Drew On Feb 12, 2004, at 11:36 PM, Christoph wrote:

Oops, you're right; fixed for the next build. There is a problem adding bars to an empty section. As a temporary workaround, create a marker in the layout list with the section, and then add the bar. Thanks for pointing this out.
If I select all sections via the Sections list I can't change the tempo at all.
True; this is partly by design, because sections in the Sections list are meant to be thought of as distinct objects, so showing more than one at a time in the pattern editor (like is possible in the Layout list) would not make sense.

Hmmm, I see what you mean here; will be fixed for the next build. Thanks! -ben -- Ben Kennedy, chief magician zygoat creative technical services 613-228-3392 | 1-866-466-4628 http://www.zygoat.ca

Right, got it. I had gotten in the habit of selecting the whole song and changing the tempo because sometimes new bars were added with 120bpm rather than the one I was currently using. I'll adjust my behaviour :) Cheers, Christoph
