I have a Tascam. It's nice. I use that device with dsp-quattro, logic, and doggie box. Just make sure to get a nice USB cable, such as a belkin or something. May 20, 2005, at 11:00 AM, doggiebox-request@lists.zygoat.ca wrote:

To Carl and all concerned: At about $199 US dollars, it's hard to go wrong with this device. I rarely use move than one input at a time, although I have messed with multi mic setups on my guitar amp. The insert effect is useful. I use it to run compression on vocals with my nano compressor.
To sum up, This unit is one that requires very little attention. Just plug it in and start using it. That's the mark of a well designed bit of hardware.

Sorry for being a bit off topic, but ...
Mike C., you're using a Tascam US-122 audio interface right? Anyone else? I'm definitely thinking I need to get an audio interface -- recording complete compositions on my Roland VS-1680 is great, but its lack of interface to my computer makes it real hard to quickly sketch out and revise ideas, which I bet I could do pretty easily with an audio interface and GarageBand. The Firewire interfaces I've looked at seem sexy, but perhaps USB would do for me, since I'm unlikely to be recording more than a track or two at a time. I've kinda been hoping Apple's rumoured "Asteroid/Jam Box" thing would materialize, but I'm thinking I'd do better to not wait too long for vapourware :) I've heard good things about the Tascam and Mike C's recordings show it can do the job real well, so perhaps that's the route I'll try ....
Cheers, Carl
