Hi Ben Like the new improvements a lot especially the sections idea - that's just what was needed, although I have the same bug problem of not being able to select any drums yet - can't wait for the next build though! Anyway just wanted to throw in what would be on my wish list in the pot. I'm no developer, so I've no idea how easy or hard it would be, but I would like to be able to import an ascii drum tab file - as is commonly posted on drum tab sites into Doggiebox. It would be a great feature to sell to bedroom guitarists like me who like to cover our favorite songs quickly. imagine thinking of a song you'd like to play, doing a quick search for the guitar and drum tab on the net, importing the tab into DB - you could then . in a matter of minutes set about mastering the song to the exact drum track. That would makelearning a lot easier and speed up the process no end. I imagine in time there would be a large library of Doggiebox dbs, but I also like the idea of poaching bits from here and there to come up with new tracks. From a users point of view, maybe a cut and paste type of function where you could say select a snare line of ascii (say from your internet browser), copy it, move to DB, highlight the snare line (or even another instrument), paste and Hey Presto! What do you think? Impossible?? It just seems to me that there is just a lot of information out there as tabbed tracks and it would be a cool thing to be able to do - like being able to open midi files in a midi editor. While I'm at it, that would be a cool thing too - to open a midi drum track in doggiebox. I'm pushing it now aren't I? Keep up the good work Cheers Sion

That was more or less the idea behind my request for the ability to import MIDI tracks, stripping off the non-drum material :) I think the old Classic app Virtual Drummer used to let you do that. I haven't ever typed in a whole drum tab to DB, though I have occasionally tried to enter a few measures from bits of a song where I particularly like the pattern or fill, so I can slap them into one of my own compositions somewhere :) Cheers, Carl -- Carl Edlund Anderson http://www.carlaz.com/

Cool ideas. Somebody had raised the drum tab one awhile ago. The challenge will be making it work in a general way, since there is no "tab standard". Also, the MIDI in/out thing is definitely on the list... I wish I had more brains and hands to work at once. ;) -ben On 04 2 2004 at 4:08 am -0500, Sion Morris wrote:
