An icon editor might be overkill, but including a handful of (easily accessed) attractive icons would make DB seem more finished and professional. Great timing on this point... The Reverend Rat has just contributed four sets of great looking icons; here is the overview:
Set 1 has B&W line drawing icons. Set 2 has over 100 color icons. Set 3 has Kick, Snare, and Tom icons that match set 1, but with a velocity indicator. Set 4 has 10 geometric shapes in 11 colors.
