The only problem with the Yamaha kit is the limited number of hi-hat timbres. I like the variety in the NS kit, but I agree that the actual drum sounds now sound a bit too clean to me in hindsight. I am certain that I can process some life back into them, using something like Room Machine, but... extra work. Not really my bag at the moment. Not such a fan of the nskit despite the variety of velocities and samples. its a bit too clean and 'studio for me. My other favourite is the Ludwig kit but I'm tending to use the Yamaha more now.

So... I've been noticing that the Yamaha kit has some really nice sounds. The NS Kit that I've spent so much time putting together sounds small and compressed by comparison. I like the variety I've put into the NS Kit, but now I'm not sure I like the sounds.
Has anyone else noticed this? I can't remember wether the original NS Kit sounds were like this, or if I manipulated them in some misguided way.
