Does anyone out there know if Doggiebox still works on macOS Sierra?
Cheers, Carl

Hi Carl,
It does.... I think. It boots up. I had found it was freeezing upon me after using it for a few minutes back around ~ 10.10 and hadn't seen any improvements so I stopped using it. It could be my machine(s).
Still love it though.
Best, Jack Duffy

It does launch on Sierra, though I haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces yet. I can say that I had been using version 1.4.3 successfully as recently as El Capitan.
BTW, I recently (as in--coincidentally--just about the same time Carl posted his note!) had an exchange with Ben Kennedy in connection with finally upgrading to 2.0.2 and a registration glitch that arose in the process (since solved). I hesitate to speak for him, but he did say we shouldn't consider Doggiebox to be abandonware--life and work are just conspiring against him when it comes to fitting in any work on this project (don't we all know how that goes . . . the CD I've been planning to release is already a year behind schedule, sigh). Anyway, he said he hopes to drop us all a note here sooner rather than later.
Cheers, Carl
Hi Carl (& all),
Oh, that’s good to know that Ben doesn’t consider Doggiebox abandonware just yet! I realize that the drum-machine scene etc. has changed a lot since Doggiebox first came out (looooong, long ago now!), and though I might use the Logic/GarageBand “Drummer” feature when just messing around without a particular plan, I still tend to turn to Doggiebox when trying to cook up something specific.
Thus, actually, my question wondering if it still works on Sierra. :)
And it seems like it pretty much does, probably at least as well as on El Capitan (where it’s been pretty much “business as usual for me”, really).
Cheers, Carl

Hmm, well, I sort of had an “enforced” upgrade to Sierra this past week because my internal HD died, and while I had complete Time Machine backups of my El Capitan install, it seemed best to move forward.
Alas, Doggiebox seems partially broken on Sierra: I can open files and play things, but the Tool Palette seems to have choked — instead of it appearing I get a mysterious little panel labelled “Field” but containing little else. I suspect it is the remains of a broken Tool Palette. The main effect is that I can do most things _except_ change time signature or tempo. :P
Anyone else with Sierra seeing something similar?
Cheers, Carl

I've been able to work with time signature and tempo on Sierra. The main issue I'm experiencing (so far, at least) is that Doggiebox can be a bit glacial when saving.
FWIW. Carl
I tried completely blowing away all signs of DB (not that I found much: one file somewhere in the Library, but otherwise just the app itself), re-downloading, and re-installing — but I’m still afflicted with a broken "Tool Palette” labelled "Field”. Perhaps this is because I had to start with a virgin Sierra disc, and you upgraded to Sierra from an El Capitan system on which DB was working (and something necessary carried over in your case, but not in mine?). Oh well.
I may drop Ben a quick line via Facebook and see if I can convince him to do a maintenance release. At worst, it doesn’t seem like Doggiebox is very (or even necessarily) broken on Sierra.

If I get a bit aggressive with mashing virtual buttons with DB on El Capitan (10.11.x), I can stall or sometimes crash DB …. but mostly it’s still pretty stable. I have been given to understand that, despite the name-change/rebranding of the OS, Sierra is more a kind of continuation from El Capitan than much else, so my guess has been that DB might keep chugging on for the meanwhile ….
But I did wonder if anyone had given it a go!
