Hey all,
A tiny update to Doggiebox (1.4.1) is now available. This fixes the bug that was responsible for causing exporting audio to fail under Mac OS X 10.4. Now you Tiger users can finally upgrade (again). :)

Also, as an aside -- I realised today, looking at www.naturalstudio.co.uk, that it seems Douglas Whates has sold the entire ns_kit project (to a Quebec-based company). Interesting. Also looks like the former free version of nskit_7 is no longer anywhere to be found... drag!

Once free, free forevermore, I believe. I'm no lawyer, but I think that I can continue to use the sounds I have, as long as I don't distribute the samples.
And oh, by the way, I've gone and ordered myself a set of actual drums. Nothing extravagant, but I may just have to create another DB kit, or at least offer up some more recorded samples once everything arrives and I get through my first wave of recording.

Awesome, Mike. We're all anxious to see how they sound, both "real" and "Doggieboxified". ;)
(And as an off-topic aside -- any of you who have cheap friends considering to get Doggiebox, maybe now is the day; they can buy it at www.mupromo.com for 50% off, today only!)

Still not working on my two Tiger Macs I'm afraid Ben. Have any other Tiger user had the same result?

Looking forward to that, Mike. I can't believe you won't be able to resist creating a DB kit from your new actual drum set. That will be a luxury if not a bit dangerous. If it were me, I think I would end up endlessly recording and re-recording samples and probably have six or seven unfinished kits on the go at once! On the other hand if you have a real kit all ready to go, will you need DB as much? Will be interesting to find out. Also interesting to see if your actual drumming style is similar to your db drumming style, which is quite distinctive.

Hey Sion,
Try deleting your prefs (~/Library/Preferences/ ca.zygoat.doggiebox.plist), relaunch Doggiebox and see if that cures the problem. (Or, if you have the developer tools installed and want to preserve the rest of your prefs, you can use Property List Editor to delete the "DBLastExportAudioStreamDesc" key).
Daniel confirmed to me off-list that this restored it for him.
It occurred to me that the crash is likely due to malformatted audio- format data previously saved by Doggiebox 1.4 being reloaded. On the machine I tested the 1.4.1 fix, there may have been no previously- existing prefs file, so I didn't see this symptom. In retrospect it would have been wise to look for this bad data and purge it automatically; oh well...

Great - thanks. That has done the trick!
1.4.1 is now up and running 100% on my Mac :))

My goal is to rely LESS on Doggiebox during the writing and arranging phase of things. I may still use it for finished production, depending on A) how well I can perform live drums myself or B) whether I can have a real drummer come in and do the tracks.
Stylewise, my actual playing is VERY much like what I program, but without the tempo control. I'm not too bad, but still have a long way to go.
