Hi all, Now available at <http://www.doggiebox.com/distribution/Doggiebox-1E5.tbz>. What's new: • Playback tempo is now adjustable in real time according to inbound MIDI Clock events. Ken, please let me know if/how this actually works. :) • Fixed various bugs that have shown up in earlier 1E builds, including: - Some issues related to wacky tempo markings and default tempo for new bars (thanks Dan and Ken). - An issue where drum kit reconciliation did not work properly and could result in a crash (thanks Carl). - An issue where one drum may be inadvertently placed two or more times simultaneously at the same location, resulting in editing anomalies and seemingly louder velocity on some hits. (An easy way to determine whether your song has been affected by this is to open it up in Doggiebox 1.2 and see whether the same drum appears in several grid spots at the same beat position. If so, you'll have to fix this by hand using 1.2; sorry for any inconvenience.) - Some issues where empty bars, or rests at the start of a pattern, were sometimes skipped on playback. • Contrary to documentation and intent, Export Audio was always exporting the whole song (vs. just the selection, if there was one). Now fixed. I did not intend for it to take so long to get this build out. Unfortunately, trying to fix the empty bars/rests problem mentioned above opened a whole can of worms to do with tempo adjustments and calculations which has taken me a few days to deal with. As a side effect of this, there is a new known issue in this build: dragging the master tempo slider during playback will cause playback to stall as long as the mouse is down. Hopefully I will be able to fix this eventually. Playback tempo in 1E5 build

I can report that db does indeed change it's tempo in response to inbound MIDI clock, but I experience the master temo slider/playback stall problem you describe when this happens. Also, (and this may be related to the slider/stall problem) the tempo slider never comes to rest at a new tempo after the new tempo is received- the slider sort of 'wiggles' back and forth constantly by a bpm or two. If I stop db playback and then restart it from the Mac keyboard or mouse, the slider stays put and the playback works OK. As soon as I send db MIDI clock, the slider starts wiggling again. (Is db polling constantly? Does db only compute 'integral' tempos and the incoming MIDI clock is in between?) Looking forward to the next release! Ken Boldt

Exporting dbsong to two mono files

Hi, is it possible to export a dbsong to two files (WAV, AIFF etc.). I need 2 mono files out of them , left and right channel, (24 resolution bit would be ideal). I can see checkboxes for 2 channels in the export dialogue but it's always disabled. Thank you Thorsten

Hey all, New 1E4 build today at <http://www.doggiebox.com/distribution/Doggiebox- 1E4.tbz> which replaces Monday's build. Most notably, a bug is fixed which caused a lockup or crash upon starting playback (thanks Dan Costello). For obscure reasons this never manifested during the course of normal debugging. Secondly, on track with creating finer control for editing operations, cursor-key navigation is now possible on a beat-by-beat basis within patterns. Keyboard combinations in the pattern editor have changed slightly but should be immediately intuitive: - left, right arrows will navigate on a visible beat subdivision basis. - option-left, option-right will navigate bar by bar (as did left/right in previous versions). - command-left, command-right will jump to start and end of line respectively. - up, down arrows will walk line by line. - option-up, option-down will walk a screenful at a time. - command-up, command-down will jump to start and end of song respectively (as did up/down in previous versions). It is not yet possible to place the cursor inside a bar using the mouse, nor is it possible to select individual beats yet, but that's coming next. And finally, you may have noticed Safari (or your downloader of choice) spewing a bunch of garbage text when you tried to download the last build... I have fixed that on the web server so the file should download normally now.
