Hey all,
New build at <http://www.doggiebox.com/distribution/Doggiebox-1G03.zip> :
- Undo/redo is now available for all editing actions in the drum kit
editor, as well as multi-row selection for copy/paste and drag & drop
operations.
- Fixed "New Drum Kit" command (broken in 1G02).
- Fixed a bug that could occasionally cause audio exporting to do
nothing (1G02 and earlier).
I've tested the latest functionality (multi-track export, etc.) under
both 10.4 and 10.5 on ppc, without problems. If you guys who were
experiencing problems or crashes are still seeing them with this build,
please let me know.
Have a great weekend,
-ben

Hey all,
Happy iPhone OS 3.0 day; I enjoyed listening to my office-mates squeal
with glee all day long at the upgrade! For those (like me) who don't
yet have an iPhone, how about a new Doggiebox build instead? Here's
what's new:
- First phase in a major overhaul of the drum kit editor. The main drum
kit table view has been replaced with a column-based view, allowing more
visual organization of the drum kit contents. Items may be re-ordered
using drag-and-drop (currently under Mac OS X 10.5 only), and renamed by
double-clicking.
- Filenames created during multi-track audio export now reflect group
names, as configurable in the drum kit editor.
- Fixed a spurious "file already exists" message when exporting multi-
track audio.
- Fixed a crash during audio exporting.
- Fixed a crash when zooming out too far in the pattern editor.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when loading a drum kit with missing or
damaged sound files.
Download at <http://www.doggiebox.com/distribution/Doggiebox-1G02.zip>
Feedback as usual is welcome. Note that I have not recently tested this
under 10.4, but problem reports are welcome. I will need to do more
work to enable drag/drop support in the kit editor under 10.4 if there
is demand.

Hey all,
I'm pleased to finally post the first in what I hope to be an evolving
series of testing/development builds over the coming while... and to
start off, I have taken a preliminary tackle of a much-requested
feature: multi-track export!
Grab it at <http://www.doggiebox.com/distribution/Doggiebox-1G01.zip>
There is a new menu command, "Export Multiple Tracks", whose function
should be mostly self-explanatory: specify a filename of
"Test.aiff" (for example) and Doggiebox will create files "Test 1.aiff"
through "Test 5.aiff", each corresponding to a mix of only those
instruments appearing in the corresponding grid line in the editor.
This should help facilitate post-production and alleviate a lot of the
tedium that people have had to deal with when trying to export drum
tracks in pieces.
I'm interested to hear about how this seems to work in practice, and
whether more refined levels of control are necessary (e.g. for splitting
up the mix).

Hey all,
In typical form, some news on the Doggiebox front after a long spell of
silence. :)
I think I mentioned here awhile back that I had moved a couple of years
ago to go to film school for a change of pace and new creative/
intellectual stimulation. In April of last year, I was hired for a full-
time position as an assistant editor in post-production here in
Vancouver. It has been a fun and rewarding new experience. Alas, I was
recently laid off (along with the bulk of the company's staff) and am
now back on my own.
Given the circumstances, I have decided establish a new office/work
space and ramp up Mac software development efforts again, full-time.
Over the coming weeks my intent is to address current bugs and usability
problems in Doggiebox, and begin a new branch where I can finally get
working on long-awaited new features and improvements such as have been
raised and discussed on this list in the past.
I've already fixed a MIDI export problem under 10.4 as well as a copy-
and-paste bug in the pattern editor, and should have a maintenance
release out soon.
I would like to thank you all for your enthusiasm over the past few
years, and I'm heartened that you're still hanging around on this list. :)
