Also,
What's the specific preferred file format for sounds to be added? Sample rate, mono/stereo, file type, etc. ? I'm able to select the .wav files on my machine, but not the .aif files.
Thanks,
Matt

I found it will accept aiff files but only if the extension is .aiff (it probably ought to accept .aif also -- Ben?). But note my previous message, that they don't seem to play back correctly.

Matt, Lee, and everyone,
First, sorry to keep you hanging on this for so long. I have finally had time to dissect the problem in detail, examining the behaviour in the debugger with the files you (Lee) sent me several weeks ago.
Here's the deal: Looks like your samples are 48 kHz, 24-bit... and that won't work. ;-) Right now, all sounds need to be 44.1 kHz (however the bit depth should not matter, and stereo or mono is fine). The reason is that there is currently no sample rate conversion performed, so all inputs must match the output hardware rate. I suspect that if you downsample your input and re-import it, it should work.
Sample rate conversion will be on the todo list though, so hopefully this will not pose a huge hassle for too long. In the mean time, I'll add a check for this in the drum kit editor so that an alert is displayed if the sample rate is inappropriate when importing a sound.
And Matt, as Lee correctly suggested, Doggiebox doesn't see files named ".aif" unless you rename them to ".aiff" with the extra F. This is fixed for the next build however!
Also, slightly on a tangent, the next build will also feature a default icon + sound for new drums so that there will be at least SOME feedback if you create an empty kit.
